Start at the Beginning

The process begins with you completing our E-book Conversion Quote Request for each book. Most quote request take no more than 2 business days. Send the quote request and a PDF or Word document file of the book. We do accept other formats including InDesign, Quark, XML, HTML and Word Perfect. We will respond to your request with a quote for the conversion of your title to a ePub file.

The files we prepare will be compatible with all popular e-book readers, including most desktop readers. We guarantee the quality of the output and any errors on our part will be corrected at no additional charge. Any additional changes or edits you choose to make after the conversion is made and delivered to you for review may be subject to additional charges.

New Leaf's Easy eBook program is not limited to conversion. We offer full distribution and sales with the Easy eBook program. Signing with New Leaf and joining the Easy eBook program will launch your eBook publishing adventure.

Once our quote has been accepted by a publisher or author and an agreement is signed, the title is immediately sent for conversion. Most conversions take no more than two weeks depending on the volume of work in progress. Illustrated books may take longer.

Illustrated books will require individual image files in PDF format to insure the quality of the ePub file. You will be responsible for furnishing the metadata* for your title. Someone at New Leaf will work with you with your metadata needs.

You may choose to handle file conversions through another service in which case there will still be a $30 ingestion fee.

A word of caution, converting your book files to the required e-book formats is not as simple as some would have you believe. Your books must display properly on all of the various e-reader platforms such as Kindle, Nook, Kobo, Sony, various Apple devices and various Android devices. This requires experience and skill, and we work with a company that uses a six step process to ensure that conversions are accurate and as close to the original formatting as possible.

Should your files prove problematic and require fixes by your conversion partner, there will be a $100 charge for each subsequent ingestion attempt.

*Metadata is the specifications of your book and include ISBN, price, page count, author name, description and rights information.

Publishers are familiar with the International Standard Book Number (ISBN), but for authors seeking to publish their eBooks, this number may be new to you.

ISBNs are assigned to each edition of a particular book. For example a printed book's hardcover edition, trade paperback edition, eBook edition and audio edition each would have a different ISBN

All eBooks must have an ISBN. Your ISBN is a key component to the eBook's metatdata.

ISBNs may be purchased at Bowker.
